This is my version of the classic Old-Fashioned cocktail.

At home it's a pain to keep citrus peel to garnish as I just don't drink enough to keep it fresh, and I don't have enough citrus fruit to keep peeling it when I want a drink so the addition of the grapefruit bitters addresses this really nicely.

The use of the caramelized sugar also gives it, at least I believe it does, less sweetness but still balances out the vanilla from the bourbon.
